Cooking with STEM (Grades: PreK-1)

Have you wondered why bread and cakes grow bigger in the oven? Can you cook using the sun as the heat source? Sign up for this creative intercession and you will get opportunities to make your own butter, bake your own bread, create ice cream, and learn the science behind food.

Knit Your Bit GCPS (Grades: K-5)

Beginners welcome!
Have you ever wanted to make your own hat? Students in kindergarten -5th grades are invited to join the GCPS Knitting Brigade and learn how to loom knit their own hat! Please join us for a week of fun learning about different types of yarn, the animals that provide yarn, and use yarn to knit your own hat!

Ocean Explorers (Grades: 1-3)

Sharks, Whales, and Sea Turtles! Oh my! We will be learning about different plants and animals that call the ocean home. STEM, art, and other activities to enjoy all things ocean!

Social Skills through Media (Grades: K- 3)
with Kristin Dunnigan

The ‘Social Skills through Media’ intersession will give students an opportunity to hear from a special story and then apply the skills learned in their everyday lives! Each day, we will explore a different social skill or two based on a book or film! Some of the skills we will work on include kindness + friendship, emotion regulation, growth mindset, self-esteem, and more!

Stop Motion Stories (Grades: 1-5)
with Jennifer Carr

In our stop-motion animation-focused intersession, current 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students will create their own stories, figuring out how to design, organize, stage, and film frame by frame. We will develop characters, settings and bring their story arc to life. On the technical side, they must learn to film, edit, and add sound, all while exploring new software applications. Ms. Lind and Ms. Carr will roll out the red carpet at our film festival where students can showcase their films!
