In this course we will spend some time each day in the classroom learning the rules, techniques, and tips to begin your disc golf journey. After time in class, we will practice skills outside on the football field, then put them to the test on different courses. The last 3 days of this class will include field trips to different Richmond area parks to play a variety of courses and continue to develop skills. Parks we could play include (to be determined at a later date): GHS Course, Bryan Park, Gillies Creek Park, Dorey Park, Dunncroft/ Castle Point Park, Goyne Park, and University of Richmond. Discs and transportation provided by GHS. Come learn, get outside, and develop a new hobby!

Language Immersion Camp (Grades: 9-11)

Free

with Olivia Exum

This two-fold experience mirrors a "mini" version of the Governor's World Language Academies, in which students will experience a fully immersive Spanish language environment that is not possible during a regular school day/week, learning by doing hands-on investigation, projects, and exploration of authentic, personally relevant materials. Students will also build leadership skills as they spend a period of time each morning mentoring elementary students, helping to actually teach language through activities while our groups interact together! Our objective is to increase Spanish language communication skills while engaging in real-world uses of language, and experience the many facets of leadership and mentorship, all of which will prepare today's learners for tomorrow's opportunities.

For students who pass Spanish II/III or higher in 2022-23.

Are you not sure what to say in writing to admissions for the schools you have been thinking--and yes, possibly dreaming!--about? Is the cost of college giving you and your family sticker shock? Fear not! Show Me the Money (and the Admission!) is a weeklong intensive course with a major goal: to bring your voice, stories, and identity into focus as you apply for schools and scholarships. You will exit this course with at least one complete college application essay (and however many others you need! this is just the start!); the experience of having applied for at least five scholarships, several with essays included; and a portfolio created over the week to help you build your essays and applications on.

Instructor: Ms. Holloway- Costa
